Notes on the Tanya Vik Clinic
“What did you think of the Clinic? What did you learn?”
This is what we asked our Sonoma Chapter young dressage riders after they participated in the Tanya Vik Clinic on February 10 at Renaissance Farm.
Here’s what they had to say.
· Monique Elliott-Smith, 12 years old and “Spanky” said, “I like how she really explained. . .not in a foreign language.”
· Juliette Jeanty, 12 years old and “Dustbuster” said, “Knees, heels, whole leg, down.”
· McKenzie Kelley, 13 years old and “Diego” said, “Shoulders back so Diego doesn’t pop out his outside shoulder.”
· Emily Walton, 10 years old and “Robbie” said, “Loosen the reins so he won’t pull down.”
· Alicia Zecherle, 14 years old and “Sparky” said, “When you use your seat properly, everything improves.”
· Olivia Honighausen, 14 years old and “Teddy” said, “Impulsion, not speed.”
· Kylie Dupuis, 12 years old and “Rivvy” said, “She gave me one little move that helped me supple Rivvy, and then I was able to sit her trot!”
Thanks to Tanya Vik for volunteering to give this clinic. Also thanks to Liz De Kock for the snacks, Tom Reinecke for the expert arena prep and Renaissance Farm for volunteering their lovely location. Finally, a big thanks to Kim Dupuis for organizing the event. All the riders had a great experience, and they are ready to do it again soon!
