Steffen Peters and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff Take Top Honors During Competition
at 2005
Las Vegas FEI World Cup Finals

 

Las Vegas, NV—April 22, 2005—Steffen Peters of Escondido, California, riding Floriano, dominated the Offield Farms Las Vegas Invitational International Dressage Competition Grand Prix during the 2005 FEI Offield FarmsWorld Cup Dressage Final.

            Peters and the 15-year-old Westfalen gelding were unquestionably the winners with a score of 74.292%, taking home the $10,000 check for first place. The pair scored more than 8 percentage points above the second placed Carol Plough, of Riverside, California, and Komo, the 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, who scored 66.208%.

            Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff of Germany and Renoir-Unicef took top honors during the International Dressage Competition Grand Prix Freestyle—B Final. Linsenhoff and the 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored a 76.150%. Leslie Reid of Canada riding the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Mark, came in second with a 74.35%.

The B Final is a consolation freestyle competition for the six riders from Thursday’s Grand Prix who did not qualify for Saturday’s FEI Offield Farms World Cup Dressage Final-Freestyle.

Coming up tomorrow is the FEI Offield Farms World Cup Dressage Final-Freestyle showcasing the top 12 riders from Thursday’s Grand Prix competing for the title of World Cup champion. In addition, legendary illusionists Siegfried & Roy will be the guests of honor during the evening events.

More than 100,000 tickets have been sold with tickets purchased by individuals in 13 countries and all 50 of the United States. Better than 96% of the ticket sales have been to people who live outside Nevada.

The FEI Offield Farms World Cup Dressage Final will be televised on Monday, June 6 at 4:00 p.m. EDT on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN).

First held in 1986, the Dressage World Cup Final has been held in the U.S. only once, in 1995 in Los Angeles.  Germany and The Netherlands have dominated the competition, winning six titles each through 2004.  The United States won its first title in 2003 when Debbie McDonald of Hailey, Idaho and the magnificent mare, Brentina, emerged as champions. Brentina is owned by Parry and Peggy Thomas of Las Vegas, for whom the Thomas & Mack Center, the venue for the World Cup Finals, is named.
